Our fraternity members scrubbed, painted, washed, and moved heavy furniture during our day of service at the Franciscan Mission Service house, “Casa San Salvador”. The home where the FMS volunteers live and where our fraternity meets was in need of a little TLC and our fraternity and the FMS residents joined together to spruce up the Casa.
Our day began with Morning Prayer followed by assignment of duties around the house. Over a dozen people working hard got the list of chores whittled down by lunchtime. Fraternity members and FMS volunteers then shared a delicious potluck meal and warm fellowship. In the afternoon we wrapped up our work with one small group hauling away various odds and ends while another began applying window insulation. In the end we departed the house with stronger bonds formed among the fraternity members, new friendships with the FMS volunteers and a cleaner Casa.
